Amanda and Jeremy's Beer Review: Victory Wild Devil Ale
Wild Devil is a weird ale that is like a British IPA made with American hops, German malts and yeast common to Belgium Ales. Hence weird. Brewed by Victory Brewing Company, Downington, VA. Amanda's first impression: yuck, not a fan, smells weird, tastes hoppy on the front end and OK but has the after taste is the same as the smell. Jeremy's first impression: Beer has a lot of head (see photo), smells like baby poop, label states "sharp tang and deep funk" Jeremy "funk is an understatement". Ratebeer.com gave Wild Devil a 91%. I guess Jeremy and I can't appreciate good beer :) To each his own.
A little about the Brewery: Victory Brewing Company
Victory Brewing Company was founded in 1996 in an old Pepperidge Farm Bakery in Downington, PA. One distinguishing characteristic of Victory is the insistence on using raw whole hops instead of pelletized hops or extracts. In addition, the brewmaster trained in Germany and brews under the German Purity Laws where appropriate.
